On November 20–23, Bakulev National Medical Research Centre of Cardiovascular Surgery hosted the 28th All-Russian Congress of Cardiovascular Surgeons. Traditionally, the event brought together specialists from national medical centres and the largest clinics specializing in cardiovascular surgery, endovascular surgery, cardiology and other related specialties.
This year’s congress was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of an outstanding cardiac surgeon and public health expert, founder of a major scientific school, Academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences Vladimir Burakovsky. A four-day versatile scientific program encompassed 68 meetings, round tables and symposiums, more than 400 presentations on topical issues of cardiovascular surgery, cardiology, anesthesiology and lectures by leading international and Russian experts (from 78 regions of Russia and 5 countries).
At the session on endovascular surgery of the heart and blood vessels, Mikhail Chernyavsky, Chief of the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, together with junior researchers Nikolay Susanin and Yulia Belova delivered a presentation entitled “Paradigm shift in the treatment of the aortic arch.” It was dedicated to a new minimally invasive technology introduced at the Almazov Centre for the treatment of patients with aortic aneurysms and dissection.
Almazov Centre is a leading medical centre in Russia for the treatment of this condition using the fenestrated stent grafts. The presentation by the specialists of the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery was honored by the congress experts as the best among more than 200 e-posters. This clearly shows the importance and relevance of the topic and is also of great importance for supporting the development of technology in Russia.
Participation in such events opens up endless opportunities for learning, peer-to-peer exchange of experience and networking with experts from all over the world.
