The Research Laboratory for Surgery of Metabolic Disorders was established as part of the Institute of Endocrinology.

Major objectives

Studying the possibility of predicting the outcomes of bariatric surgery.
Justifying and assessing the systemic effects of bariatric surgery on the components of metabolic syndrome.
Developing and implementing the concept of personalized medicine based on the assessment of genetically determined and phenotypic changes using clinical expert systems in the surgical treatment of patients with metabolic syndrome and type 2 DM.
Justifying the surgical methods for incretin disorders in type 2 DM in patients with a BMI of less than 35 kg/m2.
Preventing and developing new methods for the treatment of instrumental suture failure in longitudinal gastric resection.
Studying the mechanisms for correction of obesity and metabolic disorders using gut microflora.
Developing the recommendations for the surgical treatment of patients with obesity and diabetes mellitus, training of specialists in the Bariatric Surgery specialty.
