Specialists from the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery gave three presentations at the Leipzig Interventional Course (LINC) 2023, which took place from 6 to 9 June in Leipzig, Germany.
Their presentations were devoted to minimally invasive endovascular and hybrid technologies used at Almazov Centre for the treatment of patients with diseases of the aortic arch and brachiocephalic arteries. The experience of the vascular surgeons of Almazov Centre, which has been highly appreciated by the international community of experts at the conference for the fifth time, is fully in line with modern world strategies for the treatment of such complex diseases as aneurysms and dissections of the arch and thoracoabdominal aorta, multi-level atherosclerotic lesions of peripheral arteries. It should also be noted that the equipment of the hybrid operating room at Almazov Centre, with the possibility of intraoperative CT, 3D navigation, 2D perfusion angiography, ready-to-use full anaesthesia and pacing capabilities, is on par with foreign university clinics and is maximally focused on the strategy of minimally invasive surgical treatment. The technology of intraoperative fenestrated stent grafts for aortic arch aneurysms and dissections is a high-tech, minimally invasive method that does not require traumatic open access. The described technology has been successfully used at Almazov Centre since 2019 under the guidance of China's leading cardiovascular surgeon, Professor Chang Shu, who also presented his results at LINC 2023.
LINC is one of the leading courses in vascular and interventional surgery, designed to provide a global platform for advancing scientific and clinical results and innovations in the comprehensive treatment of patients with vascular disease. This year, the four-day course presented the latest updates in world research and new technologies, and specialists from different countries shared their personal experiences and skills in the treatment of aortic and peripheral arterial disease, including during live broadcasts of clinical cases. Lectures and debates by leading experts aimed to address the current issues in vascular and interventional surgery, with a focus on the development of multidisciplinary integration of specialists and the promotion of endovascular technologies as first-line therapy.
The opportunity to participate in such high-level conferences is an incredibly informative and important event for Russian doctors of all specialties, contributing to the long-term prospects of cooperation with the world's leading clinics and the development of modern treatment technologies.
