On June 8–9, the 8th All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation on problems of immunogenetics in transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells, tissues and organs took place in St. Petersburg. The event was organized by the Russian Research Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology. Traditionally, this event is of great interest to members of the professional community. Both Russian and foreign experts in the field of immunogenetics and organ transplantation were invited.
The scientific programme covered the most topical issues of population immunogenetics: modern achievements in organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, new directions and methods of immunological research. Special attention was paid to the functioning of the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry, the organization of the effective functioning of the new database. Of particular interest were presentations on the relationship between the HLA system and various diseases, including the new coronavirus infection.
Specialists of Almazov Centre gave three presentations.
Tatyana Pervunina, Director of the Institute of Perinatology and Pediatrics, spoke about heart transplantation in children. She presented modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of chronic heart failure, as well as the characteristics of the post-transplant period in this age group of patients.
D.S. Kilina, Head of the Tissue Typing Laboratory of the Central Clinical Laboratory, spoke about the predictive ability of the PIRCHE algorithm to determine the likelihood of post-transplant complications in patients after heart transplantation and allo-HSCT.
Yu.V. Sazonova, Junior Researcher at the Research Laboratory of Thoracic Surgery, gave a presentation on therapeutic approaches to HLA sensitization in patients before and after heart transplantation. The main nuances in the management of recipients with high immunological risk were discussed.
