On June 16, Alexander Petrov, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Head of the Expert Council on Regulation of the Circulation of Medicines and Medical Devices, visited Almazov Centre.
During the meeting, Mikhail Karpenko, First Deputy Director General of Almazov Centre, introduced the guests to the capabilities and facilities of the Centre. The participants discussed the issues of medical training necessary for the production of medicines and medical devices, issues of provision of medicines to patients, development of new drugs, conducting clinical trials and introduction to the market, targeted financing of new developments and projects. Almazov Centre was represented by Dmitry Kurapeev, Deputy Director General for Information Technologies and Project Management, and Nadezhda Zvartau, Deputy Director General for Regional Programs.
Alexander Petrov highly praised the potential of Almazov Centre:
«Your Centre could be of interest in terms of developing new drugs, training medical and technical staff, organizing medical tourism and exporting technology. There is strong support for this. It is extremely important that the existing developments and experience can be introduced into the wider medical practice».
The guests learned about the achievements of Almazov Centre in the field of nuclear medicine and theranostics, visited the PET centre, discussed the development of new radiopharmaceuticals for a personalized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of malignant tumors and other diseases.
