From 3 to 8 July, St. Petersburg hosted the White Nights Oncology Forum, one of the largest events in cancer care, bringing together a wide range of specialists from Russia, neighbouring countries and beyond. Its main goal is to provide a unique global scientific platform for the medical community to share the latest cancer research to improve the quality of medical care and reduce morbidity and mortality.
The event traditionally brought together specialists such as oncologists, pathologists, chemotherapists, surgeons, radiotherapists, diagnostic radiologists, geneticists, healthcare executives, scientists, representatives of patient organizations, charitable foundations, etc.
Specialists of Almazov Centre took an active part in the work of the Forum with the following presentations:
• “Infrastructure for success: the experience of a large research centre” by Anastasia Kirichenko, Director of Preclinical Translational Research Centre
• “Unresectable glioma – what to do?” by Vladislav Chirkin, neurosurgeon
• “Endometrial cancer: a cascade of problems”, “MHT and endometrial cancer” by Elena Ulrich, Chief Researcher, Research Laboratory of Reproductive Technologies, Head of Oncofertility Competence Centre (she also chaired the Endometrial Cancer session and took part in the Rare Tumours round table)
• “Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy in fragile patients” by Dmitry Fedorov, urologist and assistant surgeon of the da Vinci surgical system
• “PET-CT in the differential diagnosis of endogenous hypercortisolism” by Darya Ryzhkova, Head of the Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Technologies Department, Chief Researcher, Nuclear Medicine and Theranostics Department
• “Personalized approach to choosing a combined treatment for patients with advanced ovarian cancer” by Tatyana Gorodnova, gynecologist-oncologist
• “A clinical case of mucinous adenocarcinoma of the bladder” by Olga Svirepova, resident at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging
