On June 28, Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, and Oleg Ergashev, Deputy Governor of St. Petersburg, visited the Solnechny Biomedical Research and Training Centre for Gifted Children and Youth. The Minister was shown the educational buildings for students, accommodation, cultural and recreational buildings, sports grounds, a scientific and educational laboratory and a demonstration training area.

Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, said:
Almazov Centre has created a new model of a world-class research, educational and clinical biomedical centre. Its development follows the path of an interdisciplinary approach to the integrated solution of scientific, practical and educational problems of fundamental importance for the scientific and personnel support of the development of Russian healthcare. Interconnected links in the chain of the innovative ecosystem of modern biomedical education at the Almazov Centre lie at the Solnechny Biomedical Research and Training Centre.
The Russian Minister of Health praised the idea of creating a research and training centre and its projects, and expressed the hope that the university would become one of the main centres for training personnel for the Russian healthcare system.
