On September 28, 2023, a cooperation agreement with a roadmap for reducing the mortality rate from circulatory system diseases was signed between Almazov National Medical Research Centre and the Government of Novgorod Region; the document was signed by Andrey Nikitin, Governor of Novgorod Region, and Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The agreement was concluded for long-term partnership based on mutual beneficial cooperation. The roadmap provides the reducing of chronic forms of circulatory diseases; medical training for specialists managing CSD patients; increasing the proportion of annual medical examination; replenishment of personnel shortages; improving of medical care quality for CSD patients.
“The road map is aimed at making medical care holistic and integrative to combine infrastructure, primary care, emergency care, and routing. It will ensure that in all districts of the Novgorod region, medical care for people with acute coronary syndrome complies with best practices. Of course, we will investigate diagnosis, treatment, and drug provision issues, it is necessary for patients to participate in the programs,” noted Evgeny Shlyakhto.
Education for patients is no less important than the education for doctors. Active participation of patients in educational programs and implementation of specialists’ recommendations can reduce the number of patients with severe forms of disease. Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto also accented the positive results of joint work with the region, especially in decreasing of the mortality in CSD patients.
“Together we need to work seriously both in digitalization and accessibility of services and medical training. Specialists from Almazov Centre will participate in dispensary observation activities. We will look through those areas where the death rate is the highest. We thank the colleagues for agreeing. Last year we had a decrease in mortality rate, and this year we discover positive dynamics as well. It is important to move systematic — this will help saving people’s lives,” the Head of the region emphasized.
In 2022, a unified cardiological service was created in the Novgorod region, as well as a system of cardiovascular risk management centers and cardiological registry of patients with circulatory system diseases.
