On October 31, Evgeny Shlyakhto, chief visiting cardiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health for the Volga, Southern, North Caucasian and Northwestern federal districts, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, held a working meeting on the implementation of regional programmes and targets of the Federal Project on CVD Control. The meeting was attended by all the chief visiting specialists of the supervised districts, representatives of regional authorities, heads of specialised medical organisations – more than 250 people in all.
The meeting discussed
• Regional reserves to reduce morbidity and mortality from circulatory diseases.
• Ways to improve the territorial planning of specialised medical care at the outpatient and inpatient levels.
• Plans to increase the efficiency of the implementation of the pharmaceutical benefits programme.
• Prospects for IT development and the improvement of human resources.
Regional best practices in each area were presented, with a focus on the establishment of a cardiovascular risk management system. The issues of finalising regional tariff agreements and developing telemedicine technologies, as well as ways to improve the efficiency of regular medical checkups, were actively discussed.
The exchange of experiences and best practices, as well as a clear definition of regional problems, made it possible to formulate a step-by-step action plan to achieve the targets of the Federal Project on CVD Control.
