On November 15, a delegation from the Centre for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited Almazov Centre.
The delegation members were:
Shakizat Khalykova, Head of Maternal Health Protection, Maternal and Child Health Department, Health Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Gulnara Nurlanova, Director of the Centre for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, Almaty Public Health Department; and Dinara Mirzakhmedova, gynecologist fertility doctor.
The colleagues from Kazakhstan were welcomed by experts of Almazov Centre: Dmitry Ovchinnikov, Chief of the University Clinic; Evgeny Grekhov, Head of the Research Group of Children's Cardiac Surgery; Vladimir Kopylov, Chief of the Maternity and Childhood Clinic; and Yulia Gavrischuk, Chief Midwife of the Perinatal Centre. During the introductory meeting the colleagues discussed the clinical peculiarities of medical care for pregnant women and newborns with cardiac, endocrine and hematological disorders, as well as the prospects of further cooperation in the field of maternity and childhood care and professional training.
The guests visited the Antenatal Unit and cardiac surgery NICU of the Perinatal Centre.
Of particular interest to the guests was a visit to the Accreditation and Simulation Centre of the Institute of Medical Education, headed by Evgeny Ripp. They discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of education and short training courses for trainees from Kazakhstan.
The next point of the visit was the Children's Rehabilitation Clinic of the Institute of Perinatology and Pediatrics, where Elena Gurkina, Deputy Chief for Medical Affairs, presented the concept of the treatment and rehabilitation unit at Almazov Centre and introduced the guests to the departments. The delegation visited the Department of Children's Diseases with a Clinic of the Medical Faculty, headed by Irina Nikitina, met the staff of the department and learned about the department’s publications.
The guests were impressed by the clinical and educational facilities of Almazov Centre and expressed hope for future cooperation.
