On 16 November, Oleg Ergashev, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, held a meeting on the establishment of the Healthcare Professional Development Centre under the St. Petersburg Government at Almazov Centre. The need to create the Centre was identified at the meeting and the initiative was supported by the experts who took part in the discussion.
The participating experts were Dmitry Lisovets, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Healthcare Committee; Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre; Yulia Ludinova, Deputy Head of the St. Petersburg Governor's Administration, Head of Project Management; Irina Ganus, Deputy Chair of the Committee for Science and Higher Education; and Tatiana Pigolts, First Deputy Chair of the Committee.
The main objective of the project is to provide human resources for the health care system by increasing the volume of targeted training of medical specialists. In addition, the Professional Development Centre will contribute to the continuous improvement of the professional level and qualifications, as well as to the development of the medical care quality management system (organisation, coordination and support of the activities in the field of selection, assessment and training of specialists).
