On November 16, a meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for the Implementation of Measures to Reduce Mortality under the Government of St Petersburg was held at Almazov Centre.
Evgeny Shlyakhto, chief visiting cardiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health for the Volga, Southern, North Caucasian and Northwestern federal districts, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, Director General of Almazov Centre, spoke about the strategy to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases in St. Petersburg.
His speech was followed by a presentation «Cerebrovascular diseases: actual results and problems of implementation of the St. Petersburg regional project „Combating cardiovascular diseases“ in the current 2023 year» by Igor Voznyuk, chief visiting neurologist of the Health Committee and the Ministry of Health for the Northwest federal district.
Dmitry Gladyshev, Deputy Chief Surgeon, St. Petersburg Hospital No. 40, chief visiting oncologist of the Health Committee, presented the main results of the «Fighting Cancer» project in St. Petersburg.
The topic «Mortality from digestive diseases in St. Petersburg: main causes, long-term and current trends, measures to reduce mortality» was presented by Yuri Uspensky, Head of Department of Therapy named after Professor Waldman of the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, chief visiting gastroenterologist of the Health Committee.
This topic was continued by Olga Titova, Director of the Research Institute of Pulmonology of the First Pavlov State Medical University, chief visiting pulmonologist of the Health Committee, in her presentation entitled «Mortality from respiratory diseases in St. Petersburg: main causes and measures to reduce it».
Konstantin Zvonik, Director of the St. Petersburg Territorial Fund of Compulsory Medical Insurance presented the results of control and expert measures in medical organisations for 9 months of 2023.
Alexander Panteleev, chief visiting TB specialist of the Health Committee, Chief of the St. Petersburg State Tuberculosis Dispensary, Professor of the Department of Socially Significant Infectious Diseases of the First Pavlov State Medical University, spoke about the current state and ways of improvement of the St. Petersburg phthisiology care.
Petr Yablonsky, Director of the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology, chief visiting surgeon of the Health Committee, continued this topic.
At the end of the meeting, Professor Orazmurad Yagmurov, chief visiting specialist in forensic medicine of the Ministry of Health for the Northwestern federal district, Head of the Forensic Medicine Bureau, spoke about forensic medicine with reference to the unfavourable treatment outcomes.
