A workshop on «Intellectual property items: from creation to implementation» was held at the Almazov Centre's Boiling Point on December 12 with the participation of specialists from the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) and industry experts. The participants discussed intellectual property issues related to medicine and pharmaceuticals.
Tatyana Erivantseva, Deputy Director of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property, opened the workshop with a presentation entitled “The road from idea to patent and profit: myth or reality”.
FIPS experts N. Lyskov, Head of the Centre for Chemistry, Medicine and Biotechnology, and M. Salnikov Head of the Centre for Physics and Applied Mechanics, then presented approaches to patenting biotech drugs and products of gene and cell therapy, spoke about the peculiarities of legal protection of dependent inventions and the possibilities of patenting software in the field of artificial intelligence.
Other presentations by industry representatives touched on important topics such as the identification of intellectual property objects in project management in the field of drug development and transfer, and the specifics of the legal protection of personalized agents in medicine.
Important and interesting issues related to intellectual property were actively discussed by specialists from the Department of Research Management, the Centre for Transfer of Medical Technologies, heads of departments of the WCRC for Personalized Medicine, specialists from the Institute of Medical Education and researchers from Almazov Centre.
