On November 26–29, Bakulev National Medical Research Centre of Cardiovascular Surgery hosted the 29th All-Russian Congress of Cardiovascular Surgeons
This major annual scientific event is crucial to the development of cardiovascular surgery in Russia, bringing together the country's top specialists to share experience and foster close collaboration. The congress programme focused on topical issues related to such fields as cardiovascular surgery, cardiology, anesthesiology and resuscitation, transplantation, cardio-oncology and arrhythmology.
Outstanding speakers from different regions of the country, including cardiac surgeons from Almazov Centre, took part in the congress. Cardiovascular surgeons from the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery led by Professor Mikhail Gordeev, gave presentations on the surgical treatment of aortic and aortic valve disease, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Cardiovascular surgeon Vladimir Uspensky, head of the Aortic and Aortic Valve Disease Research Laboratory, spoke about using machine learning to search for relationships between the diameter of the ascending aorta and defects in its wall structure in borderline dilatation and aneurysms of this segment. Cardiovascular surgeon Ilhom Zugurov presented immediate results of pulmonary thromboendarterectomy combined with additional cardiac surgery in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
Mid-term results of controlled pulmonary thromboendarterectomy in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension and evaluation of parameters of pulmonary circulation hemodynamics in the early post-operative period in such patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension after pulmonary thromboendarterectomy were presented by cardiovascular surgeon Alexey Osadchiy. Cardiovascular surgeon Amir Ibragimov presented the results of optimized surgical treatment of ascending aortic dilatation with bicuspid aortic valve. Cardiovascular surgeon Valery Saprankov presented the results of repeated interventions on the ascending aorta and the aortic arch, as well as a clinical case of repeated repair of the ascending aorta and the aortic arch due to subacute type A dissection after aortic root repair with Bioconduit and TAVI for bioprosthetic aortic valve degeneration in a young patient with Marfan syndrome. Professor Mikhail Gordeev, Chief Researcher at the Research Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, spoke about current issues in the treatment of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
