On 18 December, the XXVI St. Petersburg Assembly of Young Scientists and Specialists took place. The Assembly is organized by the Committee for Science and Higher Education. This major event is aimed at popularizing scientific, technological and educational activities among young people and allows the presentation of the best scientific projects of the city's young researchers.
Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, delivered a welcome address at the opening ceremony of the Assembly. Scholarship holders of the St. Petersburg Government and winners of grant competitions were honoured at the event.
In 2023, students of the Institute of Medical Education of Almazov Centre were among the winners of the grant competition for students and PhD fellows of universities, industry and academic institutions in St. Petersburg:
— PhD student Leila Sarakaeva (project: Congenital Hyperinsulinism – Optimization)
— PhD student Margarita Sorokina (project: Effects of functional unloading on skeletal muscle stem cells)
— PhD student Ksenia Sukhareva (project: Autophagy dysfunction due to pathogenic variants in the Z-disc associated DES gene
— Student Elizaveta Andreeva (project: Radiofrequency pulmonary artery denervation for pulmonary hypertension treatment)
Also honoured was student Maksim Borodin. He won the competition for a personal scholarship from the St. Petersburg Government.
