For the second year in a row, vascular surgeons and cardiologists from Almazov Centre presented their results at the Pan Arab Interventional Radiology Society Annual Congress (PAIRS) 2024, which took place on February 10 to 13 in Dubai.
This Congress is the largest endovascular and interventional radiology conference in the Middle East and Africa.
Pan Arab Interventional Radiology Society (PAIRS) is a non-profit professional medical society aiming to spread the knowledge about interventional radiology and foster research in interventional radiology by supporting continuing education and training.
The event brought together more than 200 speakers from the countries of Europe, South and Central Africa, Pakistan, Iran, India, the USA, Turkey and the UK.
Leading experts discussed the advantages of a multidisciplinary approach, the prospects of introducing new treatment techniques and methods for patients with CVD, central nervous system diseases and cancer.
The achievements of the team of authors from the Research Departments of Arterial Hypertension and Vascular and Interventional Surgery of Almazov Centre – consisting of A. Konradi, M. Chernyavsky, A. Vanyurkin, Yu. Panteleeva, E. Tsvetkova, I. Emelyanov, A. Gurevich and M. Ionova – were presented by researcher Daria Chernova, who gave 6 oral presentations. The topics of the presentations reflected current trends in the treatment of vascular diseases: minimally invasive treatment of visceral artery aneurysms, atherosclerosis obliterans of the lower extremities, multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of diabetic foot syndrome, study of central pressure characteristics in patients with aortic aneurysms after endovascular treatment. Special attention and recognition was given to the presentations on endovascular technologies for the treatment of aneurysms and dissections of aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aorta.
«Only yesterday, a total aortic endovascular repair with preservation of the patency of the brachiocephalic and visceral branches was not possible due to the complex anatomical structure of these sections. Today, modern imaging equipment with three-dimensional navigation, implemented technologies for implantation of fenestrated and branched stent grafts, well-coordinated work of a highly qualified team of surgeons experienced in endovascular and open vascular surgery allow to avoid traumatic open surgery lasting several hours not only in elderly patients with severe comorbidities, but also in young people», — comments Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Head of Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery.
In addition, a representative of RUSH University Medical Centre (USA) invited Russian specialists for joint scientific conferences and research in the field of vascular surgery. The University's Training Centre has a strong scientific base and graduates high calibre professionals each year in more than 70 postgraduate training programmes.
