Submission Guidelines
Manuscript submission guidelines for Translational Medicine are defined according to the “Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals” of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
Translational Medicine journal publishes only original articles, literature reviews, clinical lectures and observations, educational publications. Russian and foreign publications describing new approaches in high-tech medical care are widely presented.
According to numerous bilateral agreements between the Centre and foreign professional medical communities and associations publication of international guidelines on diagnostics and treatment in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Surgery, Endocrinology, Hematology and Transfusiology translated into Russian as an appendix to the journal.
The publication is designed for a wide range of readers: specialists, therapists, physicians, family doctors, medical students, researchers and professors. It represents modern views on multidisciplinary approach to mortality decrease and life time increase in Russia.
There are several sections in the journal: 1) editorial; 2) original articles; 3) reviews and lectures; 4) guidelines; 5) discussions; 6) short reports; 7) historical reports; 8) reviews of the future conferences and congresses; 9) advertising.
General submission criteria for Translational Medicine are relevance, novelty of the material and its theoretical and/or applied value. Editorial Office provides expertise of the articles (reviewing). Based on two written reviews and a conclusion by the Editorial Board, a manuscript is accepted, rejeced or sent back to (an) author (s) for improvement.
Editorial Office reserves the right to publish the articles accepted in the form and order that are the best for the journal.
Preparing a Manuscript
Articles are to be sent to the Editorial Office to <bulleten@almazovcentre.ru>. All pages have to be numbered consecutively. Manuscript of original articles (and short reports) should include: 1) title page; 2) abstract; 3) key words; 4) introduction; 5) design and methods; 6) results; 7) discussion; 8) reference list; 9) graphics; 10) cutlines; 11) tables.
The title page is printed on a separate page and includes: full name, position and academic degrees of (an) author (s), institution (s) where the work was completed and signatures of all authors (authorizing agreement on scientific and literary editing of the article and transferring the rights on the edited version to the Editorial Board). At the foot of the page full name, postal address, phone number, fax number and email address of the author, who is a contact person, should be provided. A manuscript must be sent with official reference of the institution, in which the work was performed, signed by a scientific research supervisor. The reference may include a statement that the article is based on a thesis research.
The abstract must be prepared in Russian and English and consist of 200 words or fewer. It should include full name of (an) author (s), institution (s) where the work was completed and the key words (not more than 5). An abstract of the original article has to include the following parts: background (optional), objective, design and methods, results, and conclusion.
The reference list is prepared according to the State Standards of the Russian Federation (GOST R) 7.0.5-2008 “Bibliographic reference” in citation order on a separate page. Surnames of foreign authors should be given in original transcription (in case there are more than 3 authors “et al.” may be used). In-text references should be indicated with Arabic numerals in square brackets (for example, [1]).
Each table must be printed on a separate page, have its number (Arabic numerals) and title (full-length). Tables should be provided in order of citation in the text (refer in the text as table 1 etc.). All columns in the table must be entitled; all abbreviations should be transcribed at the end of the table.
The pictures should be provided in two copies on one side of white thick glazed paper and in electronic formats *.tif, *.pcx, *.bmp (Exel, PowerPoint, Word for graphics and charts). Picture size must be 9x12cm. On the back of the picture or photo, full name of the first author, article title, picture number and top and bottom indications must be given. A picture has to consist of minimum signs, all descriptions must be placed under the picture. All illustrations are marked in the text (for example, pic.1).
For original manuscripts, total volume (all sections) must be 15 pages (A4 format) or fewer, printed with 2.0 line spacing; for short reports – 4 pages; number of illustrations – no more than 3, number of citation sources – 15 or fewer. Volume and design of other article types (reviews, lectures etc.) are to be agreed with the Editing Office well in advance.
The SI system should be used in all manuscripts submitted for publishing, except those dimensions that traditionally are measured otherwise.
All abbreviations used in the submitted articles must be transcribed, except for symbols of chemical elements and abbreviations of metric units. The Editorial Office reserves the right to shorten and edit the accepted articles.
Submission of the manuscripts already submitted to or published in another journal is forbidden. Manuscripts not accepted for publication are not returned to (an) author (s). Incorrectly designed manuscripts are not considered.
