Alexey Vladimirovich Panov
Head of the Coronary Heart Disease Research Department, PhD, Professor
From 1976 to 1982 he studied at the First Leningrad Pavlov Medical Institute. From 1982 to 1984 he was in clinical internship at the Leningrad Institute of Cardiology in “Cardiology”.
Alexey Vladimirovich Panov is the author of two theses: “The effects of opioids and clonidine on the emotional, affective and hemodynamic manifestations of visceral pain” on the speciality “Pharmacology” (1989); and “Opioidergic pain and blood regulation mechanisms in coronary heart disease” in “Pharmacology” and “Cardiology” (1997).
In 1998, Alexey Vladimirovich Panov was elected as Professor of the Faculty Therapy Department of Pavlov State Medical University. From 2001 to the present he is the Head of the Coronary Heart Disease Research Department of Federal North-West Medical Research Centre.
Professor Panov’s research area now is the study of atherosclerosis development and progression mechanisms, the improvement of existing and development of new treatments for coronary heart disease. The main practice area of the Department is the patients’ selection and preparation for myocardial revascularization.
Professor Panov is the member of St. Petersburg, Russian and European Society of Cardiology and author of over 300 scientific publications, teaching guides, and new medical technologies.
