Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) Research Department was established in 2001.
Major areas
- Developing and improving diagnostic and treatment methods for patients with stable CAD
- Studying the prevalence of CAD risk factors
- Optimizing the measures for the selection of patients for myocardial revascularization, developing new methods to improve the prognosis
- Preventing the recurrence of disease after endovascular and surgical myocardial revascularization
Participation in State Assignments
As part of the State Assignment for Research, our specialists have developed the Registry of CAD patients who underwent CABG in 3 regions of the Russian Federation (St. Petersburg, Orenburg region, Samara region).
The ongoing research led by the Department as part of the state assignment is centered on the “Development of methods to reduce the risk of coronary events in patients with coronary artery disease during elective surgery on peripheral arteries and aorta”.
Clinical activities
The specialists of the Department select patients for high-tech CAD treatment in accordance with the recent guidelines on myocardial revascularization. The clinical sites are Cardiology Department with Rehabilitation Unit and Intensive Care Unit 1.
Training and education
In 2014, we organized an advanced training course for medical specialists “Modern Diagnostic and Treatment Methods for Coronary Artery Disease” (72 hours).
The specialists of the Department are actively involved in the trainings for students, medical residents, and PhD students. Professor E. Kuleshova has been the head mentor for medical residents for more than 25 years.
International collaboration
The Research Department takes part in the Chronic Ischemic Cardiovascular Disease Pilot Registry (CICD Registry), a study carried out by the European Society of Cardiology.
