Ongoing research and development prospects
In 2013, researchers of the Department carried out a multicenter randomized clinical trial of the effectiveness of ischemic postconditioning in patients with combined aortic valve and ascending aorta disease who underwent cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass. Earlier experimental studies have provided the background for the ongoing clinical studies on the cardioprotective effects of remote and pharmacological preconditioning.
The researchers of the Department in collaboration with the colleagues from the University of Oslo (Oslo, Norway) are developing the protocol to investigate the efficacy of a new solution for donor heart preservation in a model of long-term hypothermic preservation of the rat heart.
In collaboration with ITMO University, an experimental study is being carried out on the possibility of assessing the severity of no-reflow using indocyanine green and the effect of pharmacological postconditioning on postischemic microcirculatory disorders.
