Major objectives

• Studying the epidemiology of obesity, metabolic syndrome and individual components of metabolic syndrome.
• Studying the pathogenetic mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in obesity and metabolic syndrome, including arterial hypertension, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, chronic heart failure.

• Identifying the molecular genetic predictors of cardiovascular disease in obesity and metabolic syndrome, developing personalized treatment approaches for patients with combined disease.

Training and education

Lectures at the annual workshop for specialists in bariatric surgery on the topic “Obesity and metabolic syndrome: pathogenesis, classification, diagnosis and treatment”.

International collaboration

Participation in the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) EURObservational Research Programme (EORP) -Atrial Fibrillation (AF) III Registry).
