Cardiomyopathy Research Laboratory
Research areas
Priority research areas of the Laboratory relate to the pathogenesis study of:
- inflammatory heart diseases;
- pulmonary hypertension;
- pathology of the left ventricle outflow tract.
In addition with fundamental researches, the Laboratory of Cardiomyopathies solves applied problems related to the register of patients with pathology of aorta, aortic stenosis, pulmonary hypertension, myocardium inflammatory diseases. As part of the register’s function examination of the clinical and hemodynamic features of the disease is expected, as well as the stratification of risk factors to identify genetic predictors and new biomarkers of the disease, to evaluate the effectiveness of drug therapy and surgical treatment. The results of these studies will contribute to the improvement of medical technologies in the field of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of noncoronary heart diseases.
Clinical activity
The Research Laboratory of Cardiomyopathies staff is highly qualified cardiologists trained in leading foreign clinics. Beside the consultation of patients with pulmonary hypertension, inflammatory heart disease, cardiomyopathy, acquired heart diseases and aorta disorders the following tests can be done:
- echocardiography;
- body plethysmography;
- abdominal ultrasound, Doppler ultrasound of the brachiocephalic vessels;
- ergospirometry.
In addition, the Laboratory consults the patients with cardiovascular disease in pregnancy planning, during it and after childbirth.
The Research Laboratory of Cardiomyopathies' staff is involved in the implementation of the two State Tasks:
- № 01201254534: The study of pathophysiological mechanisms of aortic pathology formation of various localization, including systemic disease of the connective tissue, and the search for new prognostic biomarkers and treatments;
- № 01201254536: Molecular genetic mechanisms of viral myocarditis and improvement of diagnosis methods.
The Laboratory participates in postgraduate training on “Pulmonary hypertension”, “Cardiovascular disease features in pregnant women”, “Acquired heart disease and aortic pathology”, “Inflammatory diseases of the myocardium”.
